The weather is getting better

Our first day in Madrid without rain, hopefully the thunderstorms last night will be the last of it. This is Calle Barcelona where we are living in Madrid, our apartment is in the building on the right that is a pink colour wiht the peeling paint and we are right up the top.
This is looking down the stairs from our landing and yes, there is a lift.
Ans this is our little terrace with the neighboring roof tiles in the background.
This morning we went to the El Rastro market along with half of Madrid I think, The population of the central area of Madrid is 3.3 million with the total population of the Madrid area 6.2 million. This was the throng of people at the market which stretches downhill for several blocks.
Of course there is the usual street theatre as well.

You never see street sighs on poles here, for that matter you never see poles. The electricity, phone wires  etc are bundled and tacked to the buildings. All the street signs are impressively decorated painted ceramic tiles and attached direct to the buildings as well.
If you ever come to Madrid and need an apartment I can thoroughly recommend www.apartinmadrid.com. Their website is very easy to use, the main problem being which apartment to choose!
