Goodbye Cordoba - hello Madrid

This is the little cafe we had breakfast in each day we were in Cordoba. Built into the old city walls opposite some beautiful gardens. No one spoke any English, but my Spanish is adequate now to order breakfast and ask for the bill. OK occasionally I do get two cups of coffee, but is that a bad thing?
We had another tripwith RENFE on an AVE (very fast train), this is what they look like.
I always think they look like they could almost break the sound barrier! We have arrived at our home for the next nine days just off the Plaza De La Puerta Del Sol which is the heart of old Madrid and a twenty minute walk from the Atocha railway station. This is the view from the tiny terrace looking over the rooftop across the street.
Plaza Mayor is quite nearby and a great tourist mecca. There were jugglers, human statues, stilt walkers and these rather intriguing optical illusionists. It was the former site for bullfights, executions, pageants and trials by the Inquisition.
