Madrid day 2

Most of Madrid was not built for cars, so streets are narrow and parking is at a premium. So you will often find cars parked in the most unusual places such as over a pedestrian crossing or across a corner.

On our wanderings today we came across some stalls selling secondhand books set up just down from the Plaza de Colon. I would have loved to bring some home, but Frank pointed out that there was no much use as they were all in Spanish.
Not far from here we found another market very similar to the Mercado de San Miguel. This one looked quite new and was not mentioned in any of the guidebooks, but the Mercado de San Anton near the Plaza de Chueca proved a great place to stop for lunch.
We spent the afternoon at the Centro de Arte Reina Sofia, the museum for 20th Century art which is housed in Madrid's former general hospital built in the late 18th Century. The main attraction was pieces by Picasso and Salvador  Dali. On our way to there we passed the main Post Office for Madrid which is a very imposing building.
